These Hearts, Forever Ended Yesterday CD review

The artists These Hearts is releasing their new album called Forever Ended Yesterday on June 21st, 2011.  I had the opportunity to preview this album and I'm sad to say that I didn't really care for it.  The reason I didn't care for the music was I think they really need to tone the vocals down just a bit and they need to sing within their range but I do think the band has some potential and would like to keep track of how they do in the future.  Please keep in mind that I'm probably on the older end of the spectrum for the target age range for this group because I'm 38.  I let my 11 year old daughter and her 13 year old friend listen to it and they seemed to really like it, actually my daughter now has their CD in her room so it looks like she really liked them a lot.  I'm happy that this is a Christian band and their lyrics seem fine but I would like to see a little more heart put into their music.

If you would like to listen to These Hearts here's a You Tube video

THESE HEARTS is also on Facebook, My Space and you can check them out on Amazon.

Miss Oklahoma

Last year our dear, sweet friend Taylor Upson(now Coggins, she got married and Kenzie was her flower girl) asked Kenzie to be her Oklahoma Star in the Miss Oklahoma pageant and Makenzie LOVED it and had a great experience.  This year Makenzie decided to go for it and be an Oklahoma Star again.  Miss UCO, Rachel Hill is her mentor this year and she is a great role model for Kenzie.  They had a great week hanging out together on and off stage.  Here are some of the pictures from their fun week.  If you are interested in the Miss Oklahoma pageant click here for more info.

Field of Vision-movie review

I had the opportunity to check out the new Family Movie Night movie Field Of Vision.  Our family was very excited by this opportunity because we like to have a family movie night a couple of times per month but, we always struggle trying to find age appropriate movies with 9 and 10 year old children.  We believe the song, "Be careful little eyes what you see" and since my children are growing out of the animated movie stage and into the real actors stage it has become more and more difficult to find a great family movie.   We are always on the lookout for a great family movie and this one seems to fill the bill!  It is appropriate for all ages, it kept the interest of my 10 year old daughter because she loves anything with horses, art and books and my 9 year old son loved all the football and action in the move.  My husband and I were both impressed that the movie covers many childhood and teen issues like bullying, telling the truth even when it's hard and building friendships.

Here's a brief synopsis of the move.

Through mysterious footage captured on an old malfunctioning video camera, Sinclair High School's star quarterback, Tyler McFarland, learns that some of his teammates have been bullying Cory Walker, a troubled new transfer student. Aware that sharing this information with the coach might get his friends kicked off the team and ultimately cost the school the state championship, Tyler must choose what's more important: winning or doing what's right.
