The Best Christmas Gifts Ever- book review

About the book:
In 1983 a father made a devastating choice to abandon his family. One of his sons, author and pastor Gary Davis, was left with the deep wounds of living without a father. In the book, The Best Christmas Gifts Ever, he shares how God used several holiday seasons to not only restore his relationship with his earthly father but also to discover the best gifts ever. This Christmas season let God surprise you with three free gifts that can change every day of your life.

The Author:
Gary Davis is a bi-vocational pastor and a hospice chaplain. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Pastoral Ministry from Oklahoma Baptist University and a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Gary has served in ministry for over twenty years.

Just Wedeminute says:

I read the book in one night and couldn't put it down, it's only 70 pages long but very powerful from start to finish.  I think the reason this really spoke to me was because Gary was sharing from his heart and I actually knew him during our teenage years and never realized he was struggling.  This truly is a gift from a pastor that has healed from old hurts and learned about the power of forgiveness. Your book collection won't be complete without this inspiring true story.

Asia: It's People and History (Giveaway and review)

About the Book:
Our family just happens to know quite a bit about Asian countries and cultures because both of my children are Asian.  They were adopted from South Korea so we attend the Asian festival in Tulsa every year.  We also have many friends from several different Asian countries.  Although we know a lot it was still fun to learn more.  We had fun exploring Vietnam but Laos, Bangladesh, Nepal, China, and Iran are all countries that are included in this unit study.

Each country study starts off with a story and then some discussion questions. Next, is the Let's Talk about...(whatever country you are studying).  This goes over the history of the country, what life is like for Christians, and then a fun activity like a puzzle or mapping.

Each unit is pretty short but packed with a lot of information.  Since my children are in 6th and 8th grades we went to the library and found several books that went along with each unit so we could extend the study.

About the author:

The author is Bonnie Rose Husdon, she writes for The Old Schoolhouse Magazine® and SchoolHouseTeachers.com as a curriculum creator and editorial assistant. Her heart’s desire is for every child to feel the love of God and know how special they are to Him. She would love for you to stop by and meet the star of her children’s series at Exploring with Jake (http://writebonnierose.wordpress.com/), look through the 10/40 window of the world and join others in prayer at Looking Out the 10/40 Window (http://lookingoutthe1040window.wordpress.com/).

What is the 10/40 window?

The 10/40 Window is a geographical area of the world roughly between 10 degrees north and 40 degrees north latitude. The significance of this area is that it is home to over 4.5 billion people, over 8,000 different people groups, and some of the largest groups of unreached people in the entire world. More than 80% of the world’s poorest people live in the 10/40 window. It is an area that many people are taking intentional steps to pray for and reach out to the people who live there. You can read an excellent description of the significance of the 10/40 Window on JoshuaProject.net (HYPERLINK to this page, please: http://www.joshuaproject.net/10-40-window.php)

Unstoppable-a movie review and giveaway

Cover 1

Where is God in the midst of tragedy and suffering?  If you've ever cried out to God asking this question or quietly wondered why? This would be a great movie for you to watch, it's bold and will help you gird up the very foundation of your faith.

It starts out very sad so if you have young children or children that are very sensitive you might not want them to watch it with you.  Makenzie (my 13 year old) watched with me and really liked it, but I know Kylan (my 12 year old) would have been so upset that he wouldn't have been able to finish it.  The movie starts off talking about the death of a child and WHY did this happen? Kirk Cameron visually documents his journey to find out "Why bad things happen to good people."

Here's a trailer if you haven't had the opportunity to see it yet.

About the DVD:
ABOUT UNSTOPPABLE

Inspired by the death of Cameron’s close friend
who succumbed to cancer at the age of 15, Kirk Cameron takes viewers on an inspiring and
hope-filled visual journey to better understand the biggest doubt-raising question in faith:
“Where is God in the midst of tragedy and
suffering?”

Going back to the beginning—literally—Kirk investigates the origins of good and evil and how they impact our lives … and our eternities. UNSTOPPABLE will prompt audiences to consider the role that pain and suffering has in our lives, as they affirm their personal views on faith, and encourage conversation starters about God, suffering, and hope.

In theaters for only two weeknights
  (Sept 24th and Oct 3th, 2013),
UNSTOPPABLE: A Live Event with Kirk
Cameron sold a staggering 260,000 tickets and reached a theatrical gross of over $3.2 million dollars. In just two nights this independent project sent a loud message – audiences want thought-provoking and meaningful entertainment.

Kirk Cameron is best known for his memorable role as “Mike Seaver,” a cultural icon of the 80's, with his mullet hairstyle, cool glasses, and wisecracking comebacks. More recently he enjoyed much success with the No. 1 grossing inspirational film of 2008, Fireproof, and his recent documentary, Monumental. Kirk and his wife, Chelsea, were on-screen sweethearts during their Growing Pains years and are the founders of Camp Firefly, where terminally and seriously ill children and their families are provided an all-expense paid retreat (www.CampFirefly.com). Together, Kirk and
Chelsea live in California with their six children.

Kirk Cameron said:

"It's easy to get excited about your faith when things are going well in your life. But when your whole world comes crashing down on you, the questions start: 'Where is God when I need him most? Why do bad things happen to good people?' UNSTOPPABLE is a journey, based on a true story, that has become the most personal and transparent project I have ever made regarding my faith. Together, in hundreds of theaters across America, we will discover with our eyes wide open, that life is stronger than death, good is stronger than evil, and faith is stronger than doubt."

A new start for a new year!

My friend Keri has been talking to me for several months about this new product that she has been taking and selling.  After doing my research on it I decided that I would try it and see if it's something that might help me with my health.  At first I thought I would just use the weight loss product called Plexus Slim but the more I learn about the other products it makes me want to invest in them too.
So, here's my new website in case you're interested in looking around www.myplexusslim.com/justwedeminute
ambassador# 208157

I'll start off with the Plexus Slim or the Pink Drink as most of us like to call it. I'm a typical mom and usually put my kids ahead of me, I do everything I can for them. This year I decided to make myself a priority and take care of my health so I'm around for them for many, many years.  It all started with Plexus Slim.  This is what it looks like.

It's a long skinny pack that you add to a water bottle and shake, shake, shake until it's mixed well.  It tastes like pomegranate and cherry.  It's sweetened with Stevia and has a pleasant taste that I enjoy.  Right off I noticed that my energy level went up and that I seemed happier!  Both of those are great so I kept taking it and after a couple of weeks lost 7 lbs and 17 inches.  The 17 inches is all over my body including my neck, calves, waist, etc. so it was a lot of body parts.

Here's a great video about Plexus Slim!

Next time I'll talk about the Accelerator+
